Festa di San Gabriele e della Madonna Addolorata
La manifestazione si svolge la terza domenica di settembre presso il Borgo di Marano, dove dal ‘700 si erge la Chiesa di Santa Maria del Suffragio, dedicata alla Madonna Addolorata cui San Gabriele, religioso passionista, era fortemente devoto.
La festa, organizzata dalla Confraternita del Suffragio, prevede una celebrazione religiosa e una civile. La prima prevede la Santa Messa seguita da una solenne processione per le vie del Borgo medievale. Mentre la celebrazione civile prevede la rinomata Sagra della “Polenta con le Concole” (il termine concola in dialetto cuprense viene utilizzato per indicare le vongole). Oltre al piatto forte che dà il nome alla sagra, gli stand gastronomici propongono ogni anno molte altre specialità di mare e di terra tipiche del territorio. Questa festa è, da sempre, molto sentita e partecipata dalla cittadinanza, e da tradizione, segna la fine dell'estate cuprense.

The event takes place on the third Sunday of September in the Marano village, where since ‘700 the church of Santa Maria del Suffragio has stood, dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows to whom Saint Gabriel – a Passionist religious man – was strongly devoted.
Organized by the Confraternity of Suffrage, the festival includes a religious and a civil celebration. The first includes the Holy Mass followed by a solemn procession through the streets of the medieval village. While the civil celebration includes the renowned Festival of “Polenta con le Concole” (the term concola in Cuprense dialect is used to indicate clams). In addition to the main dish that gives its name to the festival, the food stands offer many other seafood and land specialties typical of the area every year. This festival has always been deeply felt and participated by the citizens, and by tradition, it marks the end of the Cuprense summer.
